FROM DOWTON TO GATSBY: JEWELLERY AND FASHION 1890 TO 1929

16th November 2021

11.30 a.m.

Speaker: Andrew Prince

Commissioned to produce jewels for the Downton Abbey series, Andrew was inspired to create a talk based on Downton and the changing styles of the time portrayed.

Prepare to be entertained and informed as Andrew guides us through the extraordinary periods and events between 1890 and 1929, where great fashion houses collaborated with the finest of jewellers to produce works of art of outstanding quality and glittering opulence. Hear about the clients and patrons who commissioned the jewels and how they were worn with sumptuous gowns.

Arts Society lecturer Andrew Prince is a creator of jewellery. Producing jewellery for films and TV, the main female Downton Abbey characters were adorned with elegant tiaras, earrings and necklaces designed and created by Andrew.
