Heritage Volunteering

The Arts Society Isle of Man runs a programme of heritage volunteering

IOM DFAS Heritage Volunteers Report 2014-15

A small group of volunteers has continued to work this year under the auspices of Manx National Heritage, preparing material for digitisation for the imusuem. Some have continued to work on the deeds, some on the census and some on the Quayle papers. This last item refers to the family who owned the ‘Peggy’ – a small, but highly significant, boat who, until recently, resided in her own boathouse in the Nautical Museum. Now she has been removed to a more environmentally sensitive area and extensive research into the boat herself and the family who owned her is being undertaken.

Helen Leigh, Heritage volunteer coordinator, is stepping down from the committee this year, but anyone who is interested in volunteer work can still contact her (Helen Leigh) or visit the library at the Manx Museum and ask for either Wendy Thirkettle or Paul Weatherall.
